EASTECH SELECTION GUIDE

How to choose a Wi-Fi adapter for your project

A practical checklist for selecting USB and PCIe Wi-Fi adapters for PC fleets, distribution portfolios and connected devices.

Start with the host

Record the device type, operating system version, available USB or PCIe interface, physical clearance and installation process. For refurbishment projects, validate a sample on the exact PC image that will be shipped.

Check the complete connection

Match the adapter to the router, available frequency bands and deployment environment. A newer Wi-Fi generation alone does not guarantee better real-world throughput. Router capability, host interface and radio conditions also matter.

Evaluate Bluetooth separately

For combination adapters, confirm Bluetooth support as well as Wi-Fi. Check the peripherals you intend to connect and the drivers required by your operating system.

Validate before volume orders

Confirm chipset, hardware revision, drivers, destination-market documentation, packaging and labeling with the supplier. Test samples under your intended workload before agreeing a volume configuration.
